Solar energyplus tariff
Do you have or are you considering solar photovoltaic (PV) generation? If so, SWALEC can provide a market leading buyback tariff. We also carry out the installation of the PV
panels at a competitive price.

We are now offering customers of solar power generators a simple export pricing structure which represents real value for all concerned. We hope this can play a growing and significant part in meeting the UK’s energy needs.

Our new tariff is available for householders and small businesses who export power to the electricity network generated via Solar PV panels installed on their premises. (You must take your import supply from SWALEC and the generation must be connected to the grid via the property and not directly into the grid.)

Under our new pricing structure, we will combine the price we pay for the Renewable Obligation Certificates (“ROC”) associated with solar power and the price we pay for the power itself. In addition we will install an export meter, act as the ROC agent and seek ROC accreditation for our customers free of charge.

This tailored package, called ‘solar energyplus’, is the leading tariff on the market for customers who have Solar PV panels and export most of their generation to the grid.  The new price will be 18 pence per kilowatt hour of power exported. This means that a householder or small business generating 1,500kWh of power a year (just under half the average household’s electricity consumption) will earn around £135 a year if they export 50% of the total power generated. For customers who export the majority of their generation, we believe this is the best export tariff in the market.

This package is available for generation up to 5kW. For Solar PV greater than 5kW, we will take a decision on a site by site basis.  For more information please contact our microgeneration team:
