What you'll be paying
The price you pay for electricity will be the same. However you could pay up to £25 a year more for gas.
This is to cover the additional metering and supply costs associated with pay as you go meters.
By switching to a pay as you go meter you won’t benefit from our other ways to pay. For example paying by Direct Debit can give you a 5% discount off your bills.
Arranging a meter change
Contact us and one of our expert advisers will be able to make sure that pay as you go is the best option for you and arrange an appointment date with you over the phone.
There’s normally no charge for changing your meter. However there may be occasions where you’ll be expected to pay, for example if you’ve already had one meter change in the last 12 months or missed the original appointment.
Transferring a debt to your pay as you go meter
If you are changing to a pay as you go meter because you’ve got debt on your account, we can transfer this balance onto the meter.
Before we do this, one of our advisers will agree an amount with you to be taken weekly from your pay as you go meter. If there is not enough credit on your meter to cover this debt recovery and your normal electricity or gas use, it will go into emergency credit.
