Four easy steps to energy reduction

Reducing energy usage by 10% is easier than you think - and you don’t even have to compromise on home comforts. We’ve started by suggesting four easy steps, below, that could help you.
Tip 1

Say goodbye to standby

Did you know that in standby mode your TV, DVD player or hi-fi continues to use energy? That means you’re paying for something that you’re not even using. Pointless? We think so. Say goodbye to standby once and for all and switch off at the plug.

Tip 2

Wash clothes at 30 degrees

Washing clothes at 30 degrees gets clothes just as clean as washing them at 40. One thing it doesn’t do, however, is cost you as much - you’ll get four loads at this temperature for the price of one at the hottest setting.

Tip 3

Switch 5 light bulbs to energy-saving light bulbs

Switch to energy-saving bulbs. They use up to 80% less electricity and come in a range of stylish shapes, sizes and colours to suit every room in every home.

Choose ‘A’ or ‘A+’ rated appliances. They’re better for the environment and cost less to run.
